Long-Term Investment Strategy

A long-term investment strategy is a plan built to reach goals that are years or decades away, such as retirement, by holding investments through short-term ups and downs instead of reacting to them. The idea rests on the investor's time horizon, which is explained in full on that page.

Common tools include a fixed asset allocation, diversification and regular investing through dollar cost averaging; it is usually contrasted with market timing.
