What personal information The Money Wiki collects, why, who receives it, and the choices and rights you have.
Last updated 1 November 2026
In short: you can read The Money Wiki without an account. We use analytics and security tools that collect usage and technical data. If you create an account, we keep your email address and any profile details you add. We do not sell your personal information for money. You can ask us to access, correct or delete your information. This summary is for convenience; the full policy below is what applies.
1. Who is responsible for your information
Faisal Khan, LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company doing business as Money Wiki (“Faisal Khan, LLC”, “we”, “us” or “our”), operates moneywiki.app (the “Service”). We decide how and why personal information is used on the Service and, for the purposes of data protection laws that use the term, we are the “controller”.
This policy covers personal information handled through the Service and when you email us. It does not cover other websites, including sites we link to, or our separate sites and services, which have their own policies. Our Terms of Service also apply to your use of the Service.
2. Information we collect
What we collect depends on how you use the Service. You can read public pages without an account.
| Category | Examples | When |
|---|---|---|
| Account and contact details | Email address, name, role and account status | When you register, join a waitlist, accept an invitation or sign in |
| Profile details | Display name, profile address, biography, title, website, profile image, and your visibility settings | If you choose to add them |
| Sign-in and security records | Encrypted form of a one-time code, code expiry and attempts, IP address and browser details when a code is requested, IP address when it is used, last sign-in time | When you request or use a sign-in code |
| Activity on your account | Votes, reputation and badge records, and, for staff, edits and administrative actions. Vote records may include IP address and browser details to help prevent abuse | If you use these features |
| Files | Files uploaded through an account, with their names and uploader | If you upload a file |
| Messages | Your email address and whatever you include in your message | When you email us |
| Usage and device data | Pages visited, including address and query terms, referring page, browser and device type, approximate location, and date and time | When you use the Service, through analytics tools |
| Technical logs | IP address, requested address, browser details, errors and diagnostics | When your browser contacts our servers or network providers |
| Cookies | See “Cookies and similar technologies” below | When you use the Service |
We do not ask for government identification, bank or card numbers, or crypto wallet keys on the Service. Please do not send them, or other sensitive personal information, to us. We do not sell anything through the Service directly, and advertising or sponsorship arrangements are handled separately by email and agreement.
We may also receive information about you from other people, such as an administrator who invites you to join, or from public sources when we write about a person or company in an educational article.
3. How we use information, and our legal bases
Some laws, including in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, require us to state a legal basis for each use.
| Purpose | Legal basis, where required |
|---|---|
| Create and run accounts, send sign-in codes, and handle waitlists and invitations | Performing our contract with you; legitimate interests |
| Publish, operate and improve the Service, and understand which pages are useful | Legitimate interests; consent where the law requires it for cookies or analytics |
| Display profile details you choose to make public | Performing our contract with you; your choices and consent |
| Protect the Service: prevent fraud, abuse, spam and attacks, apply rate limits, investigate problems and keep audit records | Legitimate interests; legal obligations |
| Reply to messages and handle corrections, complaints and business enquiries | Legitimate interests; performing a contract where relevant |
| Send service messages about your account or changes to our terms | Performing our contract with you; legitimate interests |
| Comply with law and enforce, establish or defend legal rights | Legal obligations; legitimate interests |
Our legitimate interests include keeping the Service useful, secure and financially sustainable, and we weigh these against your rights. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time; this does not affect earlier use.
We do not currently send a marketing newsletter from the Service. If we start one, we will give you a way to choose whether to receive it and to unsubscribe.
6. Advertising, embedded content and links
Advertising and sponsored placements on the Service are generally placed by us directly and are not served through an advertising network. We do not give advertisers your account details. An advertiser’s creative may load images or other material from its own systems, and if you click an advertisement or any outside link, the destination will receive information such as your IP address and, potentially, the page you came from.
Some pages load content from third parties, such as flag images from flagcdn.com or a privacy-enhanced YouTube player, which receive your IP address and browser details when your browser loads that content. Share links for services such as X, LinkedIn and WhatsApp send information to those services only if you use them. Those services’ own privacy policies apply.
7. Artificial intelligence
We use artificial intelligence services, including Anthropic and OpenRouter, to help classify topics and draft articles. These tools work from editorial terms and prompts, and we do not send visitors’ browsing data or account details to them for this purpose. Articles may mention public figures and information from public sources. We do not use artificial intelligence to make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
8. International transfers
We are based in the United States, and we and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries whose laws may offer different protection from those where you live. Where the law requires a safeguard for a transfer, we rely on an appropriate mechanism, such as an adequacy decision or the standard contractual clauses offered by a provider. You may contact us for more information.
9. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as we reasonably need it for the purposes in this policy. In general:
- Account and profile details: while your account is open, and afterwards only as described below;
- Sign-in codes: a code stops working after 10 minutes or once used, but the related security record, which can include IP address and browser details, may be kept while it remains useful for security or legal purposes;
- Waitlist and invitation records: while they remain relevant, including after a request is decided;
- Vote, audit and security records: while needed to protect the Service, resolve disputes and keep an accurate record;
- Messages: for as long as needed to handle your matter and keep business and legal records;
- Analytics and logs: according to the settings and practices of the providers concerned; and
- Backups: deleted information may remain in encrypted backups until those backups expire in the normal course.
When we delete an account, content that person authored may stay on the Service, reassigned to another account. We may keep information where the law requires it, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. We may also keep information that has been anonymized, so that it no longer identifies you.
10. How we protect information
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including encrypted connections, sign-in without stored passwords, storage of sign-in codes in hashed form, role-based access to administration areas, rate limits, and encrypted backups. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee security. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the authorities where the law requires it. Please keep access to your email account secure, since it controls sign-in to your account.
11. Your choices and rights
Choices available to everyone. If you have an account, you can view and change your profile details and visibility settings at your profile page. You can ask us to delete your account or correct your details by contacting us. You can also control cookies in your browser.
Rights under privacy laws. Depending on where you live, the law may give you the right to:
- know whether we process your personal information, and get access to it;
- receive a copy in a portable form;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete your information;
- object to or restrict certain uses, including use based on legitimate interests;
- withdraw consent, where we rely on it;
- opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, targeted advertising, or certain profiling, where these apply;
- not be treated unfairly for using these rights; and
- complain to a data protection authority.
How to make a request. Email us using the address in the Contact section, tell us what you want and which email address the request concerns, and tell us your state or country. We may need to confirm your identity, usually by asking you to reply from that email address, before acting. An authorized agent may act for you where the law allows, with proof of authority. We will respond within the time the law requires. If we decline your request, we will explain why and, where the law provides it, how to appeal. Some rights have exceptions, for example where we must keep information for legal reasons.
12. Additional information for certain regions
United States
Residents of California and some other states may have rights described in the previous section where those state laws apply to us. In the past 12 months, we may have collected the categories in “Information we collect”, which correspond to identifiers, internet or network activity, approximate geolocation, professional details you choose to provide, and inferences drawn from account activity such as reputation scores. We use and disclose them for the purposes and with the recipients described above, and we retain them as described above. We have not sold personal information for money. We do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you.
California residents may also ask once a year for information about any disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. We do not make such disclosures.
European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland
You have the rights listed in the previous section under the GDPR, the UK GDPR or Swiss law, as applicable, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. We would welcome the chance to address your concern first. Providing your details is needed to create an account, but you can read public pages without one.
13. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or an older age where local law sets one), and accounts are for people 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service, our providers or the law change. We will post the new version here and change the date at the top. If a change is material, we will take additional steps where the law requires them, such as notifying account holders by email.
