Hybrid working is a work pattern in which staff spend part of the week at the employer's premises and part working remotely, usually at home. It spread after the covid-19 pandemic and is covered in full on the Work From Home (WFH) page.
Economists study it for its effects on productivity, commuting, city-centre property (see vacancy rate) and the wider labor market. It is distinct from the gig economy, where people work as contractors rather than employees.
