Would it be logical for Apple to buy Dwolla as a way to enter mobile payments?

No. It would not make sense.

Dwolla doesn'thave anything close to the kind of traction Apple can generate for its own payment system on Day 1 (should it decide to do so). In payment systems - traction is the key!

Apple has for years been working on their own payment system variants (emphasis on years). If and when they launch, very few select people know.

Dwolla brings no added value to Apple (IMHO). Apple can very easily invest in money and resources (people included) and come up with a native payment system, in a year or less, that is native to the Apple eco-system (think iTunes, AppStore, etc.) and the general financial systems (read: players) in place.

Apple certainly doesn't need to acquire Dwolla in any shape or form to get into mobile payments.
