Will Facebook Novi threaten small and mid-sized money transfer operators?

YES!

When Novi formally launches they have huge advantages over the small and medium money transfer businesses, namely, traction and a very large user base that can very easily be targeted (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, FB Messenger).

Not to mention the alliance partners that would themselves be bringing in their own user base.

I view the situation in the very same way small local, metropolitan ISPs went out of business. MTOs will go out of business in the same way/manner.
