Why pick Authorize.net, Braintree, or Intuit instead of PayPal?

For starters, many chose Braintree, et. al. over PayPal simply because of customer service. The ability of being able to pick up the phone and having customer service. Paypal is notorious for bad customer service. Braintree on the other hand is exceptional.
On the financial side, you can choose any one, the rates are more or less the say, which Paypal having the distinct advantage of being able to accept smaller payments.
If the payment you accept are from around the world, Paypal might not be the right choice for you, as many countries have restrictions on paying out via Paypal, in which case Braintree / Authorize.net make more sense.
It all depends on what you are selling and in which markets. It just might make sense to offer a dual payment system (Authorize.net & Paypal), letting users decide which payment system they are more comfortable with.
