Temporary off-set by intervention by Ministry of Finance (aka Mr. Dar, the Finance Minister), with the induction of US$ 1.5 Billion inflow. The exact terms under which this gift was given to us is not known.
Because there is a slight increase in supply versus demand, the price of the US Dollar to the Rupee drops, i.e. the Rupee appreciates. As soon as the market dynamics think so otherwise, the price will most likely bounce back.
