Why did Airbnb choose Braintree instead of PayPal for its payment system?

PayPal is not offered everywhere in the world for payments. Not to mention how notorious PayPal is in reversals.
Braintree would presumably be processing payments for them - as long as it is a Visa/Mastercard/American Express card. Makes more sense for AirBnB to use a payment processor like Braintree as opposed to PayPal.
Besides, Braintree is like totally cool company to deal with.
