Why are NFC readers popular in most mobile payment solutions for physical purchases?

It can be, but taking a token and then converting it into a barcode for further scanning, etc. are all extra steps. Authorizing that token is where the game should start and end.

The behavior for NFC payments, unbeknownst to many came from the door (access) card that is widely used in the corporate world.

What is easier?

• For the door to scan the barcode on your access card or
• for you to tap the access card (in near proximity) to the reader and have the door open up?
