Credit history is not a prerequisite to opening a bank account. You can open an account with any bank. The big four are usually the recommended ones (Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase, Citibank and Well Fargo), other than this there are a ton of regional or small national banks you can opt for.

BoA is not a bad option.
