Here is a Smart POS Terminal that is being specifically developed for the South Asian & African Markets with which I am associated.

Here is the Injection Moulded Shell that is the final design. The "Blue" parts you see on this are interchangeable (Green, Orange, Red, Yellow, Blue and White)

There are 2 USB ports on the underside (belly) of the POS. There is a separate Key-pad unit for Chip & PIN transactions. The keypad units connects to the main POS via Bluetooth.
The POS is multi-functional. It has an embedded Android Board/OS and a separate Touch Screen.
Battery life is 4 hours to 8 hours (depending on the printer Usage). Needless to say it also runs on AC power.
The POS can do traditional card transactions, Up to 8 Carrier Mobile Top-ups without changing SIMs, It has a Smart Card Reader. The same reader/slot can also read SIM cards when issued by the carrier. It can do biometric verification with thumbprints. Driver's license scans, Customer photographs for cash payouts/payins as well as KYC if tied to a national registry.
Typically anything a regular POS or a Smart Phone can do with regards to payments, this POS can do it.
All this for a price less than a traditional POS machine sold in South Asia.
