Where can I find statistics on the number of bank accounts by country?

It would be very hard to get data on the number of bank accounts. Almost all the central banks in the world, take reporting from their member financial institutions based on deposited amounts (in their Currency equivalent) and not the number of account holders.
The number of accounts to them (banks or central banks) is useless for calculating necessary economic statistics. What is of more importance is how much money is there in each bank.
Short answer: Very difficult to get. You might be able to find this number in Notes to the Accounts for all banks that publish Annual Reports. Again, no guarantees there.
