Based on personal market research that I have been doing for over 5 years, this is what I have found Western Union has as an advantage over the others:
In order of priority…
- Brand recognition: No more second guessing. You see the brand, you trust it. It is like going to a different country and seeing Coca-Cola on the shelve along with other generic coke variants, which one would you pick?
- Network Outreach: Chances are, there is a WU store near you and one near where you momma lives in the home country.
- Consistency in Service / Familiarity: Like walking in a McDonalds anywhere in the world. The service is uniform, consistent and works every time.
- Foot Traffic still wins: Over 84% of the transfers being done in the United States (based on my 2016/2017 study) is still via physical stores. The NKOBs are not targeting existing conversions.
