Finding what you are passionate about sometimes can be the hardest answer to get.

We all have more than one passion, sometimes too many to decide what is that one thing we are so passionate about. Discovering that could be a simply session of informal counseling with friends, or something that will just hit you - what you want to do 15 years from the start of your professional career (the latter was true in my case). I will give you a few tips, they may/may-not apply to you.

I'm very passionate about many things, but if someone were to ask, what is that one thing I am passionate about - it was very difficult to give an answer. I tried reading up on everything and needless to say, everything I read, I was passionate about. My true passion turned out to be teaching. But it wasn't I who had discovered it - it was friends and family.

I just happen to teach a few informal classes on varying subjects, and what I discovered was the immense pleasure I got from standing in front of young minds, hungry for knowledge and then teaching them with the love and passion as I was taught. The end result, I had students who were so thankful, but more importantly, friends for life.

Many a times people worry if they can make a living out of what they love doing. This (I believe) is something you should not worry about. Once you decide to take that leap of faith and it is just that leap of faith, all doors and avenues would automatically open for you. You will figure out how to make money and earn a livelihood from it. Don't be too worried about the intricacies of life (many will disagree with this).

As Nike best puts it Just Do It.

The hardest person to convince about your passion are not others, but yourself.

One can find passion in many things, but deep down inside of you therein lies a trait for which you are damn good at. One that brings you joy and happiness that goes just beyond the paycheck and the title you may hold. It could be something as radical (sorry for the poor choice of words) as quitting your job as an Investment Banker and starting an organic vegetable farm on a small scale. Don't be perturbed by that negative thoughts. If gardening is what brings you pleasure and what you want to do --- go for it. You can always go back to your previous job. That talent you have already established lies in you for which you get paid right now.

What would pain you later on in life, is not to have listened to that inner voice, that inner limbic feeling (which is always right) of the things you wanted to do, but never did because of what others might say.

If you have a passion for something else, try it. It would be conniving for you not to do so, and as the wife of the great Nobel Laureate Richard P. Feynman said (also the title of one of his books) "What do you care what other people think?".
