Some suggestions:
- Twitter is an excellent place to yelp for help.
- If any of your friends are on IM - tell them.
- Though Skype may not work for 911/999 calls, you can always dial your Police Stations's number and ask them to assist. Keep that handy. Make sure you always have a few Dollars worth of credit on Skype to dial-out.
- Do the same for your local Fire Station and Hospital/Ambulance Service. They all have regular landline numbers.
- If possible, get a Google Number, so someone can all you back if they are not using the Internet as a medium to call back. Alternatively, you can have a Skype-In number.
- If you use Facebook, leave a status message indicating you are having a realt-ime emergency and need assistance.
- Neighbour's number. Have them and keep them handy. Ask them to dial 911 for you.
