An online wire transfer from your bank is still the safest and most economical way of transferring money from one place to another. Granted it is not the fastest method, but it is very reliable. Bank wire transfers have a fixed cost associated to them and are not pegged to the Dollar amount that you are transferring. The recipient usually gets the money converted at the official (Interbank) rate into their account (if a conversion to the local denomination has to take place), something that Western Union, Moneygram, etc. do not do, as they tend to earn some money on the exchange rate difference as well.
