What qualifications are essential for an anti–money laundering (AML) officer?

The prerequisites to becoming an AML Officer are pretty standard. Most AML course work or Job Descriptions cover it well. Two key elements are usually never thought of or discussed so openly:

• Field Research or On-the-ground-Experience. If you have never been outside in the field, and only have been a theoretician - then you will never be a great AML officer…
• Creativity. ML today is all about ingenious creativity. If you are not equally creative, you’re missing a key attribute. “What would Dave do?” is the kind of thinking you need!
