It really depends on how much people love their coffee to spend $150 on it every month (assuming 1 cup only per day).
You could be a minimum wage earner, and in that case, a cup of $5 coffee is almost 30 minutes of hard work, so one would think again.
If you're not minimum wage and are earning a modest living, it just might be part of a your daily ritual to spend $5 on coffee. Some people do, most don't.
If you're making above average money or lots of money, spending $5 becomes trivial and what you would really need to see if coffee is something you like and would like to spend money on.
It all comes down to choice. If you like it enough, you'll spend money on it and if you're addicted to it, you will find a way to earn and spend money on it.
