What makes Bitcoin attractive or special compared with traditional options?

One thing interesting I find about Bitcoins is that all transactions are transparent in the ledger, i.e. any transaction made by Bitcoin is recorded for all to see. You may not know the identity behind the transaction, but the transaction detail in itself is recorded for all to verify and view.
