I would say, personally for me, I would divide this into three categories:

  1. Friends who are cognizant of Bitcoin and how it works, etc. These are people who generally technically inclined and understand the whole concept of crypto-currencies, blockchain, mining, etc. Needless to say, they are gung ho on the whole Bitcoin ecosystem and cite a matter of time when adoption and traction becomes more than just noticeable. Very few members of this group actually do transactions using Bitcoins.
  2. Then there is a group, who has come across and read about Bitcoin in articles online, or magazines, etc. They have no solid idea of how it works, but are mostly interested to know if they invest amount X, would they be able to get a decent return on it. They have no idea on how to buy it, where to store it, or how to trade with it. Just a general awareness of something called Bitcoin.
  3. The 3rd category or group are people who are 100% oblivious to Bitcoins or are nay-sayers.
