In some circles, they are the same: MSP = Acquirer.
In my definition, and strictly speaking an Acquirer is the Bank itself, and the MSP is a sub-set of an Acquirer.
For example, like how Braintree (company) is an MSP/ISO of Wells Fargo Bank.
