Don't laugh, but payment solutions like Dwolla are a threat to the ACH system. Not the company Dwolla per se, but the type of payments a company like Dwolla processes - near instantaneous (i.e. Dwolla's Fisync).
Ripple protocol implemented by banks would be another threat.
Any payment solution that can allow the payment to be sent across in minutes and settled amongst the banks, is a threat to the ACH.
