From a writing perspective, I will stick to that and answer the following for you.
There are many ways to make money with your skills. We all wish we could write well, but the sad reality is very few people do.
You have multiple options available to you for making money online with your writing skills. Not knowing what type of writing you do, or what interests you more, writing or perhaps editing someone's work, etc. I will go ahead and provide some options that you can exercise.
Do remember, because writing is considered a low-hanging fruit, their is immense competition. Everyone has to walk amongst the crowd before you get noticed. You will have to work
very hard to get noticed. Not everyone makes it, but those who persist year after year (yes, year, not months) do break out of crowd and establish a name for themselves.
Resume Writing
There is still a demand for a well-constructed and well-written resume. Granted most of it has shifted from paper to LinkedIn, the demand is still the same. You can see how various freelancers on

Cover Letters
One would think that cover letters aren't read any more, perhaps they aren't, be it online or offline, most companies
still require you to submit a cover-letter. Demand is not too high, but if you can hone your skills to a particular niche, there is money to be made (example: cover letter for engineers, cover letter for entry-level or inters or part-time work, etc.)
LinkedIn Resume Writing
Learn the In's and Out's of LinkedIn and how resume writing is done on LinkedIn. It is quite different from the traditional resume. You can move sections up and down. You need to be cognizant of key words that recruiters or companies might be keying in to find candidates, understanding some essential long-tail keywords, etc.
Ghost Writing
Be a ghost writer for someone else.
Blog Writing
Content is the unique driver of ranking, traffic, visitor engagement and Google awards you for that. 10,000s of blogs around the world are looking at people who put out stellar content.
Comments Posting
Creative, engaging and imaginative techniques are now being used in blog post comments, to earn some return traffic, follow-back links, etc. People have literally studied the behavior and mechanics of blog comments and carved out a niche for themselves.
Short Bios/Profiles
Someone once asked me, how would I describe myself in a short bi-line. In 50 words or less. In 25 words or less. Obituary writers are now excelling at this. Writing amazing summary of you, in 50 words or less for things like your bi-line, your short profile on some website, for email introductions, etc.
Scientific Writing
As the name suggests, there is a huge demand for scientific writers. If you have a flair for learning a particular area of science &/or engineering, you could very well make a comfortable living writing for them. This is intense work, with above-average domain knowledge required.
Editing Services
Check and correct other people's work (or like this answer, which I am sure must be making people cringe with respect to grammar, comma-splice, etc.)
Technical Writing
Be able to work with light graphics packages, screenshot editing tools and be able to write instruction manuals or help manuals. Still a very strong field. The ability to work with specialized tools for hyperlinking, etc. is an added plus, consider learning Markdown.
Creative Writing (Taglines, Slogans)
If short sentences and creative juices can be sandwiched together, then creative writing could be your thing.

Millions of websites and yet 100,000s of businesses struggle in updating their content. Stagnant and stale content is bad for business, especially for those who already have a presence online. Companies are always looking at people who can rehash and freshen up the content on their website, with newer one, that is up to date, and more in tune with how and what is going on in the company today.
Press Release
Press Releases done today are mostly all electronic. Sometimes companies have very few hours within which they have to submit their press releases and this could be a area you might want to break into.
