Online Payments: Which African countries have populations with no or very limited access to debit and credit cards?

Was researching this question myself. Turns out, there isn't a collective source for consolidated numbers for Africa. However, for many countries (not all), their Central Banks publish reports about their economy and payment systems. Since each Central Bank publishes their own report, you can get statistical information from their Annual Reports on the banked / unbanked population, branchless banking and other information statistics like number of ATMs, etc.

The only issue is, that this is not available across the board, and is not uniform.
