Implementing 2FA to a very large degree stems theft/hacking attempts, but it still has its social engineering drawbacks. People are gullible and get fooled easily.
Between single-sign-on and 2FA, 2FA is much much more secure. So yes, it is secure. Not foolproof, but quite secure.
