You can use an application like www.Freshbooks.com that can easily handle invoicing for you. The free version is restricted to 3 clients and you can send them unlimited number of Invoices. Pricing & Plans can be seen here: https://secure.freshbooks.com/pr...
Freshbooks will integrate with PayPal, and other payment providers. It will notify you when payment has been made, etc. Also, you can 'schedule' when Invoices need to go out.
Very easy to use and sure takes the hassle out. The only effort required is the one-time setting up of the client in the system.
