Is Mint.com secure to use, and why or why not?

Mint.com is safe. The date you see being ported out of your bank account is obfuscated data using the FIX protocol, that is extracted from the middleware layer between you and the bank.

The data can only be used in reports.

Transactional capability (if any on Mint) is a different story all together.
