I wouldn't use the word lobbied, but the way banking is today, specifically how fractional reserve banking works, is very important. After all understanding any institution of money, especially those that draft our monetary policies is critical to our understand of the financial world around us.

Banks have employed endless streams of people who further employ endless streams of financial jargon, double-meaning words, vague plausible causes, complex graphs and scales, coupled with intimidating mathematics which quickly deters people from understanding the basics of our monetary system and how flawed it is.

In short: It is to the advantage of banks, to confuse us in the complex jargon!
