Make sure everything is pinned to your Social Security Number (your apartment, your utilities, your income, etc.) Take a bank credit card or debit card and spend reasonably within your limits. Never go above the due dates or miss out on a payment. Do this for 6 months or so, and then apply for a credit card. Use it, leave a little credit on balance. Make the monthly payments on time and you should be good to go. Your credit history will start accumulating and improve your scores as you chug along.
