Lets get something out of the way (the proverbial elephant in the room): You cannot force anyone to use your product.
Customers will use your product when the need and convenience factors are both combined. Many a times, banks will pride themselves that they have, what they consider, a super app. Turns out, the app is really not that friendly and the UI/UX sucks.
If uptake is a huge problem, this could very well be an issue. Apps today are designed by banks and companies in the financial space and very little input is taken from the users who would actually use it. So this is definitely an area you need to revisit.
Perhaps the most critical question to ask of your application is if it is ready for the Millennials?
Millennials are most likely going to be your largest user base and ones who would be most committed. However, they do things differently, i.e. they work digitally, and if your apps sucks compared to what they are used to, they would most likely not bite.
Need and convenience are two factors that are easy to identify, but extremely difficult to materialize.
