Companies like Moleskine et. al. prefer to deal with distributors. You might want to check up if they have a distributor in your area. If not, inquire and find out which distributor would be supplying.

It would still be in your best interest to contact the companies directly and understand how they can help you. Understand the discount levels offered to end-resellers like you, and for distributors, etc. and what sort of volume based discounts are available, should you buy direct.

Also be sure to ask if they have an affiliate program. Always helps to know.

I would do my exercise / research first before contacting the company, so that you sound well-informed and this is what companies like to hear and prefer to deal with people who are as passionate and knowledgeable about their products as they are.

In my opinion, spending money on inventory is risky and ties up your money unecessarily. If you don't have any operating history or what sells, how soon, and self-life averages, don't invest in inventory.

Just find a reasonable supplier who will drop whip for you (for example) or one that has ready stock and will offer you a lower price for reselling purposes. Sometimes a good supplier can dwindle the discounts by handling charges or by shipping or the fact they they are not close by to you. Be sure to take this into consideration.
