How can funds be moved from a bank account into an app without using ACH?

I think you already know the answer, but aren't quite convinced (yet) that this is the only solution, which is: open a bank account with every bank and then do an intra-bank funds transfer.

Most banks do not levy a charge for intra-bank transfers.
