Typical cost per transaction charged by most companies hovers between 45 cents to 60 cents per cheque.
Most companies will have a monthly fees associated with their service (depending on your cheque volume, etc.) This fees can be as low as $29/month and averages anywhere between $59-$99-$149 (all dependent on the features and your monthly cheque volume).
Settlement is done in 48 hours usually. Day 1 is client debit, Day 2 is merchant credit.
If you were to search for ACH processors, there are literally 1000s of them. Signing up with them is literally as easy as 1-2-3. Most of them have a web based system, you will fill it out with your details and you're up and running.
I have seen a lot of ACH processors, but one that stands out is ACHQ - See www.achq.com (no affiliations with them whatsoever).
