How can a Canadian company legally use US-based payment processors?

Unless it is not offered in your geographic area, you would be hard pressed to find a legal alternative of using your Canadian business and using the services meant for US businesses.

The easiest solution is to incorporate out of the US and apply for such services (yes, I understand incorporating is like opening another can of worms), but if the discount rate offered and the services provided by companies such as Amazon Payments, Square, Stripe, etc. are very important to your business, then perhaps you can sit down, do the math and figure out what would an additional incorporation be worth to your business.

I'm not sure if there is some unique way by virtue of which you can open a branch office of your Canadian company in the US, which, if possible, would be another venue worth looking at.
