To the best of my knowledge the two networks are not connected. SWIFT uses various communication providers to connect with directly, including the Internet (VPN circuit). They also use in some country providers like AT&T, BT, Orange, Colt (See: Network Partners)
VISANet does not share its network or piggy back any data for SWIFT and the inverse is true as well. VISA has established nodes in each point-of-presence city, and usually has agreements with the likes of Euronet, TNSi, Tata, BT Global, Deutsche Telecom, etc. for their customers to connect to the VISANet.
Both VISA and SWIFT use their own networks for real-time and deferred settlement messaging.
