Not necessarily. If your merchant accepts Bitcoins (via a wallet transfer or other mechanisms), you're good to go.
However, if your merchant is not accepting Bitcoins, you could fund a pre-paid debit card with Bitcoins (converting from Bitcoins to Fiat) and then use the debit card to make a payment as you regularly would.
