Subtle differences: Venmo is free to use right now, whilst Dwolla is $ 0.25 per transaction for transaction $ 10.00 or more (transactions under $ 10.00 are free with Dwolla).
Dwolla does not link to your credit card, they link directly to your bank account via direct debit. Venmo on the other hand links to both (Debit/Credit card + Bank Account).
